GaGa's Electric Social Media Super Bowl LI..?

With the second half still underway, it’s unclear who will win between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, but it’s very clear that Lady Gaga was the day’s big champion..

In a very energetic halftime presentation, she powered through six of her hits after starting on the roof of the NRG Stadium with “God Bless America” and "This Land Is Your Land," then flew on wires into the venue.

In a climate where everything feels like a political statement, the fact that Lady Gaga is certainly the first Super Bowl performer to utter such inclusive words (from “Born this Way”), will certainly be a Twitter talking point: “Don't be a drag, just be a queen/Whether you're broke or evergreen/You’re black, white, beige, chola descent/You’re Lebanese, you're Orient/Whether life's disabilities/Left you outcast, bullied, or teased/Rejoice and love yourself today/‘Cause baby you were born this way.”

She was already burning up social media. The word Gaga received 41,000 tweets per minute on Twitter during the performance. And on Facebook, 396,000 people per minute were talking about Lady Gaga, according to Fox’s media stats.

Expect Gaga’s album sales to go up before the end of the game. Her current album, Joanne, is No. 59 on the Billboard 200 album charts this week and it should see a surge from her performance of the album’s “Million Reasons.”

"Talk about immediate tie-ins—her Super Bowl appearance was book ended by a Tiffany’s add featuring Gaga talking about being a misfit and ended with a commercial promoting Nat Geo’s upcoming Albert Einstein series, Genius, featuring Einstein playing “Bad Romance” on violin..” -Melinda Newman
