YOUR Social Media Strategy Amp Up?

Five ways to amp up your social media strategy..

Social media is a powerful tool that allows us to share bits and pieces of our lives from anywhere in the world -- in just seconds.

These channels are expanded opportunities for your brand’s voice, content and engaging interactions.

When you harness the power of social media, a well-strategized social plan can bring new opportunities to increase brand awareness and become a recognized leader in your space.

Lucky for us, social media is here to stay. But if you’re not fully engaged and emerged in accomplishing the goals set in your strategy, there will be serious effects on your desired results.

There some key factors that we have included in our own social media strategy at Jive PR + Digital to take our online presence to the next level. From our experience, here are a few tips.

1. Set Goals

It is true that social media can boost a business in many ways. But how do we ensure that the time and resources we put into our social media channels result in maximum value?

One key step in taking social media channels to the next level is to set and define the goals for your team. Without goals, it is hard to know how well your social media strategy is doing.

Do you hope to increase brand awareness, drive traffic to your website or become a thought leader in your community space? Set these intentions ahead of time, and measure your success with metrics, such as reach, engagement, page growth, website traffic, return on investment (ROI), etc.

2. Build Content Themes

High-quality content is extremely important. By following the goals you’ve laid out as well as staying true to your brand’s voice, you can begin to create content that fits your identity.

At Jive, we know how difficult it can be to consistently create high-quality content on a daily basis, and we try to combat this by sticking to similar color designs, settings and tone of voice.

We have found that Instagram is one of the best platforms for establishing visual content themes, and we have also found that working with these consistent themes helps to ensure that we always have a schedule of excellent content to publish.

3. Use Content Calendars

At Jive, we use content calendars to plan and organize upcoming content. These calendars ensure we never miss important dates, holidays and other opportunities to post relevant content our audiences will appreciate.

Staying organized with pre-planned calendars not only means you remember important moments; it also means that you know what you’re publishing, where you’re publishing it and when. It helps us stick to a routine cadence that can establish content themes our audience easily recognizes.

Another great thing -- and something we love -- about content calendars is that they’re extremely collaborative and make it easier to work with a team.

4. Beef Up Blogging

Blogging is a great way to not only drive traffic to your site but to establish authority as a thought leader. Your blog posts are a place to provide valuable content for your audience.

And the quality of the posts should persuade your audience to share them on various social channels and other websites.

In order to differentiate your blog posts from others, make sure that your unique perspective on the industry shines through in the content you share. Create unique content by hosting Q & A's and incorporating guest bloggers for fresh perspectives, and post regularly -- at least once a week.

5. Keep Learning

Stay on top of current trends by taking a class or attending a conference.

One of the primary ways we like to stay current is through our connections with other like-minded women in our industry. Displaying our business’ personality through social media is one of the best ways to connect with our target audience, and continuously finding new ways to showcase our values and character keeps our content fresh and our audience inspired.

Drive Traffic And Grow YOUR Blog?

How to use social media to drive traffic and grow your blog on the side..

It's easy to become enamored with stories of people who manage to make a successful living through blogging revenue. After all, what could be better than creating content about something you love and earning money while you do it?

Of course, not many bloggers are going to become an overnight success. Many blogs struggle to gain an audience, even when they put out high-quality content.

The problem? Well, most new bloggers don’t fully understand how to drive a meaningful amount of traffic to their blogs.

Fortunately, I recently had the chance to interview Selena and Jacob Taylor, the husband and wife duo behind Find Us Lost, their wildly successful travel blog and Instagram account that's accrued over 157,000 followers to date.

During our conversation, I learned how social media has played a significant role in helping them achieve their incredible success.

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at some of the ways you can use social media to drive traffic to your own blog.

    Find Your Unique Selling Proposition

As with your blog itself, being able to find a unique voice on the right social media channels for the type of audience you want to build, is essential for driving growth.

“Ask yourself, how soon can I figure out exactly who I am and who I want to portray with this brand?” Selena recommends. “Then once you’ve established that and paved your way, people will start to see it. Whether they have 1,000 followers, 100,000 or 1 million, they’ll still honestly be interested in you and the aesthetic you're conveying.”

Identifying the needs, challenges and desires of your target audience—which often align with your own interests—should play a central role in fine-tuning your unique voice. Selena and Jacob aren't the only ones who've identified the importance of this, either.

According to fellow podcast guest Nazim Agabekov, the founder of Lead Gen Black Belt , asking questions like, “What keeps your customers up at night? What’s their number one struggle in life and business?

What would make their lives easier? What are their biggest aspirations and dreams in life?” are key to defining this strategy.

Using these types of questions to guide your social media presence (and blog content) will help you craft posts that don’t just look nice—they’ll also be relevant to your audience's interests, ensuring that they’ll actually drive engagement.

    Don’t Ignore The Hashtags

Great content is key, but it must be paired with the right strategy for blog growth—and on social media, this means using hashtags. “When we were in Venice I posted a photo in the Venice canals, and I hadn’t been using hashtags at the time—which if you're big on Instagram, you know that was probably silly,” Selena recalls.

“I wasn’t really leveraging people who could see the posts. That was the first time I thought, 'Oh, I need to start using hashtags.’ That post happened to be reposted within two minutes by an account that was really large at the time… and right away started bringing us a couple hundred new followers.”

This experience led Selena to begin researching the analytics and latest trends related to hashtag usage, which then fueled a more strategic approach to how they developed future posts. For those just starting a blog, Selena notes that large Instagram accounts tend to look for smaller accounts when curating content—and consistently using the right hashtags will put you in the perfect place to get discovered.

    The Power Of Partnerships

It can be tempting to approach blogging as a completely solo endeavor, but it’s called social media for a reason. “It’s a very collaborative space,” Jacob advises new bloggers. He continues, "Develop relationships early on. Don’t assume someone’s not going to give you time, input or help you out just because they’ve been doing it for longer. Most people are very friendly and welcoming.”

New bloggers shouldn’t be afraid of reaching out to other bloggers for advice. But keep in mind, you should focus on investing time building relationships with those in your niche.

As Tamar Weinberg explains, “You can ask and ask and ask, but unless you research the writer and know exactly what it is that they cover, you’re wasting your time. For example, if you’re marketing a healthy food product, don’t just reach out to food bloggers in general, but find those that focus on healthy food, home cooking, cooking healthy for kids, and such.”

Organically reaching out to others and building these relationships has helped Selena and Jacob get their content shared on other bloggers’ Instagram Stories, resulting in new traffic. Whether you want to ask for advice or share your thoughts on another blogger’s latest social media post, reaching out can quickly lead to organic growth for your own blog.

    Achieving Social Success

Now that Selena and Jacob have built a sizable community around their blog, whenever they release a new city guide, sponsored post, or other project, they already have a massive, dependable source of traffic to rely on. That's the real power of building an engaged social following.

Yes, you should always emphasize the creation of beautiful, high-quality content when promoting your blog through social media. But as these tips make abundantly clear, it’s far from the only thing you should be doing.

A Look Into Future Social Media Trends?

5 Social media trends that will be hot in 2018..

Important and happening things on social media in the immediate future and the potential they have.

From a bunch of online platforms that started off merely so that people could remain connected, social media has evolved into an industry of endless possibilities that was worth over 28 Billion Dollars in 2017.

But for one of the fastest growing industries today, social media is still quite the game of cat and mouse with trends that change every year and businesses trying to latch on to these trends at the right moment.

So with 2017 tagged and bagged, what does the year look like on the social media space. Here are five trends I am certain will be hot in 2018!

    1. Resurgence of Independent Content Creators and Bloggers

Branded content became mainstream on social in 2016 but 2017 saw the social media space literally exploding with it. Easing off the branded content fatigue this year, bloggers and micro-publishers will be a huge trend and a much-needed relief to say so.

With average engagement rates almost thrice as much as branded content, bloggers and micro influencers are creating content that is certainly at par with content agencies and publishers, and this is certainly the year of their resurgence.

    2. The Year of Volatile Content

In just a year of its launch in August 2016, Instagram stories had over 200 million daily active users, and we already know how popular Snapchat is. Adding to the trove of volatile content, Facebook recently announced that they are inches away from launching desktop uploads for their stories.

Sum all of this up and one thing is certain -- 2018 is the year of volatile content and why not.

After all, variety is the spice of life isn't it!

    3. VR - Finally!

Virtual Reality has been touted as the next big thing for a while now but 2018 is the year that brands will be able to leverage its power and connect to users on an experiential level.

Social media platforms have already proven how useful they are for content driven campaigns and VR takes the content experience to the next level altogether.

For example: reading about how a university's new campus makes it THE place to be is a great way to connect with prospective students but giving them a VR tour of the campus on their Facebook timeline immerses them in the experience you actually want to provide.

    4. Social is LIVE

As the focus of social moves from millennials to Gen Z, a generation notorious for their low attention spans, live streams have become a rage. Besides, with brands investing a lot in video capabilities, live streaming and HERE & NOW content will become one of the most definitive trends on social media this year.

What's really making live content a big rage is the fact that it gives brands a better insight into their audience engagement since it's highly likely that an audience is paying attention to your content if they are willing to spare time and watch it when it's live.

    5. Gamification and Leaderboards

Rewarding participatory behavior from audiences is a trend that has been around for a long time and now it's taking the world of social media by storm. The trend of rewarding positive brand interactions and getting audiences to compete for top honors has led brands to social media success in 2017, a trend that's only going to get bigger in 2018. Besides with the advent of connected apps on social media and communities of engaged audiences, gamification and leader boards will be immensely popular in 2018.

"As the social media industry is poised for yet another year of staggering growth, 2018 promises to be a year of content in motion, with video leading the way.
